Turboprop Engine Model Advances on GARDN Project

Specific Range Solutions Ltd. (SRS) has developed a general turboprop fuel burn prediction model based on the Beechcraft  1900D’s Pratt & Whitney PT6A-67D engine during the current phase of the Green Aviation Research and Development Network (GARDN) project.

Under ISA conditions, the total fuel flow of both engines is on average 97.5% of the published fuel flow data for the aircraft for the full range of cruise power settings from 0 ft to 25,000 ft.  For example, at 20,000 ft under High Speed Cruise power, the predicted total fuel flow is 890.6 pph vs. a published fuel flow of 888.0 pph or within +0.6% of actual.  This preliminary thermodynamic model will be refined in collaboration with our partner Carleton University.
